My interpretation of the native american Hopi "gourd of ashes"prophecy that speaks of a possible next age, an "age of the human":
Made long ago by Hopi seers, this prophecy is very interesting. It foretells a time of danger and promise for the human race. It foretells space travel and spiritual awakening and scientific advances all happening together. It foretells a geologic cataclysm that could wipe people out. It warns that we need to be ready for this in order to survive it. It foretells that if people are ready and survive, a new age, the "age of the human" will commence. Interestingly, while this appears to be an "apocalyptic" prophecy (using the colloquial meaning of the term), it's not really anapocalypticismlike that which exists in islam, ancient judaism, christianity, or like in monotheism's apocalyptic step children; communism, nazism, ba'athism, etc. This is so because while the Hopi prophecy does mention a "time of purification" it does not envision some need to destroy anything or some big battle between good and evil or even the coming of some kind of savior or messiah or "great leader".
I think it is no accident that NASA's landing on the moon coincided with many people "waking up" spiritually. This seems to reflect an underlying dynamic that demands a synthesis of mind-exploration coupled with space-exploration that thus forces humankind into a new age. A new age, I might add, that hasn't been very well defined so far. This dynamic seems to indicate that humans require physical activity to manifest spiritual activity and also spiritual activity to manifest physcial activity. This would explain why the humans' increased exploration of their own minds resulting in higher consciousness is occuring with humans exploring space (more "higher" consciousness!) and raising science to new levels.
Once established in space with enough technology, humans will be much better able to deal with the effects of geologic cataclysms or even prevent some types of them. The one foretold by the Hopi could be caused by at least two different things. One thing could be a comet orasteroid hitting the earth and the other could be agiant caldera exploding such as the one atYellowstone. The effects of this inevitableeruption could be similar to what happened because of the Toba eruption around 74,000 years ago.
Interestingly, there is a spring in Yellowstone calledGourd Springand native american tribes from the area like the Crow and the Kiowa have a gourd dance where they stomp the ground to "shake" it. Also in the Yellowstone area, walking on the ground in places around there is like walking on a thin surface that feels hollow underneath, like a dried gourd.
It's fairly obvious that only by having a large establishment in space (living arrangements and technology in solar or earth orbits and colonies on the moon and mars and maybe asteroids and also perhaps on some of the gas-giant planets' moons), will humans not only survive a large caldera eruption, but will also be able to more quickly restore the earth from the effects. Also with increased space technology, it's possible that humans could redirect any large asteroids or comets on a collision course with the earth away from the earth and thereby save our planet from that kind of menace.
Accomplishing the above could very well usher in a true new age, the "Age of the Human"!
